The U-Pick-It system is simple to describe, simple to operate. When employees come to work, they simply swipe their personal ID card at their pre-assigned retrieval window area. If his or her card was misplaced, they can enter their ID number in the keypad. The system recognizes the employee, rapidly rotates the conveyor-always using the shortest route-and delivers their pre-assigned slot to the access door. The Lexan magnetically locked door will unlock, allowing the employee access to his or her locker bag and clean uniform. Of the five employee visible slots, only one slot will be opened (unlocked) for access each time an ID card is swiped through the reader.

When the employee has retrieved his or her property, they manually close the door and it locks automatically. The next employee swipes his or her card and the system repeats the process.

After changing, the employee puts his or her personal belongings in the locker bag and returns the bag to the system.

At the end of the shift, another swipe of the ID card brings the employee's personal property back to the retrieval window. The employee changes into street clothes and returns the bag to the system. Soiled uniforms can be dropped into a return chute configured to the hotel's specifications. At no time is a traditional counter attendant required.

The system requires just one attendant to load clean uniforms. The attendant switches the system to Load Mode, deactivating the pick-up area. The attendant then scans the bar coded clean uniforms; the conveyor automatically advances to that employee's dedicated slot location; and the attendant loads the clean uniform. The process is repeated until all clean uniforms have been loaded-then the system is switched back into Pick-Up mode.

Note: If a bag or uniform needs to be retrieved during reloading, the system can be easily switched back to Pick-up mode. Costly and time-consuming "counter" activities have been eliminated.

This configuration makes full use of the total cubic space, and frees up floor space for other purposes.
